Planning, planning, planning

I’ve been a bit quiet in the new year as I’m focusing my time on planning some really exciting outreach and educational opportunities for the year. I’ll be posting about a lot of it in the coming weeks, but wanted to do a brief summary of what to expect from Shoji Bridge Departure Doula in 2023.

First, I’ll begin offering in-person Laughing Yoga in partnership with Sacred Rose Medicinals here in New Albany, IN, my hometown. These sessions will be held once a month, except April, for the foreseeable future. The sessions will be 45 minutes – one hour and cost $12/person. This block of time will give participants plenty of time to work on their laughter and also will allow more time for us to ground and meditate after. I’m so excited to be able to laugh together this way and will post a link to register soon.

I still offer virtual laughing yoga sessions by appointment. If you’re looking for a unique team- or friendship-building activity, I can provide you the many benefits of scheduling a session with me virtually from anywhere in the world, or locally in person.

I am also still looking for at least one other location where I can provide laughing yoga in-person on a monthly basis. If you follow this blog and are in the Louisville, KY Metro area, please let me know if you know a health and wellness or other type business that would like to partner with me.

In June, I will be partnering with another local end of life doula to begin community workshops about death and dying. The workshops and curriculum were created by Rev. Karen Johnston, a death doula and Universalist Unitarian pastor. The Date with Death Club offers a wide array of topics that help those curious or questioning about life and death. gain more knowledge about issues surrounding death and dying. The monthly topics will vary and the format consists of a presentation, some with featured guests, and then some breakout and personal reflection exercises. The first topic in June will be “Getting Comfortable with Death Talk.” July we will offer “Hospice, Palliative Care, and End-of-Life Documents, Oh My!” followed by “Aging: Better than the Alternative” in August. Once all the sessions have been scheduled and booked, look here for a registration link and calendar of the series.

In August, I will launch a brand new course offering five separate modules that will help participants examine what gives their lives meaning, purpose and clarity to help us better plan for our end of life and grow holistically today. Each module will address a separate energy or area where we may need gentle guidance to better grow and learn about ourselves and improve our holistic wellbeing. Those who serve those who are aging, faced with terminal illness or dying, know that there are universal questions and issues these souls face “on their death beds.” This course will examine each area: Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, Physical, and Financial. I’m planning the instruction in each of these courses now, and I am so excited to share it with you.

So, if you’ve missed me, I’m still here, working away quietly in my office and giddy in anticipation of all the great things in store the rest of the year. You will see more from me as each of these things gets closer. What new things are you excited about learning, trying and achieving this year?
