Dotted “i”s and Crossed “t”s

As of a few minutes ago, I have officially completed all of my certification and insurance work to be an end of life doula. I received my certification for end of life doula work from Doulagivers Institute and a proficiency badge from the National End of Life Doula Alliance.

While there is no governing body or national licensure for end of life doulas, I believe strongly in the importance of professional standards to demonstrate that my skills and abilities are valuable and add worth to my practice. It is also important to demonstrate to potential clients, families, and the community that I have demonstrable expertise and that I am a trustworthy professional.

I believe community education about issues surrounding death and dying, promoting death positivity, and bringing death care back to the home and community is one of my most important responsibilities. I’ll be launching my website in a few days, and I’m planning some more content for the community that will be accessible there. Subscribe to this blog to stay informed.

I have discovered with every step of this journey how much passion I have for this calling to provide compassion and hold space with people who are dying or preparing for their deaths. I am so grateful for the privilege I have to work with people during this vulnerable time. I look forward to the opportunities to be of service in the future.
